The Washington Mystics (1-1) will begin their season at home against the Charlotte Bobcats (1 – 1) in the All-Stars Game on Sunday, March 5.
The Mystics, coached by head coach Jay Wright, will face the Charlotte-based Charlotte Bobbers, who are led by coach Tony Wroten.
The Bobbers have won five of their last six games against the Mystics and are currently third in the Eastern Conference standings, five points behind the defending champion New York Knicks.
The game is also a showcase for the Mysticks’ newly acquired forward Shabazz Napier, who has emerged as a player of note this season.
The Washington Mystical squad is led by forward Shabbir Thomas, who will return from an ankle injury.
He had 19 points and 11 rebounds in 20 minutes against the Bobcats.
Forward Jairus Sims and guard Shabaun Williams, both returning from injury, also returned to action after missing last week’s game with a strained left hamstring.
The All-star game is set to kick off at 5 p.m.
