Recode host Kara Swisher explores how 2021 hair trend trends are shaping up.
The 2021 trend is getting really interesting.
We’re starting to see more and more women opting to grow a full beard or grow a mustache, or even grow an entire head of hair.
And as more people opt for full-face hair, more men will opt for the style, too.
As we’ve previously reported, men are growing out their facial hair at a faster rate than women, with the number of men opting for full beard growth jumping to 8.2 million last year.
According to the New York Times, the trend has been driven in part by men’s growing interest in grooming.
And it’s not just a male issue.
In 2016, women are shaving more than their male counterparts, shaving for men at an average of 2.6 times a week.
And men are also shaving more often than women.
“A lot of the hair we see these days has a bit of a ‘shaggy hair’ vibe to it,” said Emily Wurfel, the managing editor of Hair.com, a blog that tracks trends in hair and beauty.
“And there’s a lot of men who just can’t get enough of that style.”
As the trend moves toward fuller, longer hair, women who have more than two facial hair types can look to buy more facial hair products.
But for those who don’t have that option, Wurwel said it’s important to choose a product that will make you feel like a part of the men’s grooming world.
Wurffel also said there are ways to look better without cutting your facial hair.
“I like to take a little bit of extra time and trim, just so I don’t look like I’m losing my hair,” Wurfell said.
But for the women who are opting for facial hair, they need to look into what their facial structure looks like.
And if you want to avoid getting a facial hair infection, Wurlfel suggested getting a wax or two, along with a moisturizer and a beard conditioner.
