As many as 1,200 people are known to have been killed in a mysterious attack in the Philippines, according to the country’s health ministry.
Authorities say the attack occurred on July 27 and left 1,821 people dead, with about 3,500 more wounded.
Authorities have identified the attackers as suspected drug smugglers and soldiers of the Abu Sayyaf group.
They say the attackers were also suspected of having a drug trafficking operation.
On Monday, local media reported that authorities believe the death toll could be higher because of the lack of a body.
The Philippines is home to around 1.3 million people, according the World Health Organization.
